MECHANICS SCHOOL

MARCH 5-9, 2012

 

The school is held at the Chemeketa Community College Regional Training Facility, 4910 Brooklake Rd. N.E. Salem Or. 97305.  Take exit 263 off I-5 and go east one mile.  The facility will be on the right.
Class study materials, lunches, and refreshments will be provided.

 

                        ***Students do not need to be a member of O.F.A.E.M.A. to attend Classes.***
 
SCHOLARSHIP 

Each year the Oregon Fire Apparatus and Equipment Mechanics Association awards the Gerald Nordlund Memorial Scholarship, which is a full scholarship for one person.  It includes lodging, banquet, and all week attendance at the school.
 This year, H&W Pacific Emergency Vehicles is again sponsoring a $500, tuition only, scholarship for one student.
The criteria for these are:  the scholarship applicant must be in good standing with a paid or volunteer fire department and must be involved with the maintenance and operation of emergency apparatus and equipment.
 
 
 
LODGING:  For those needing overnight accommodations, we have a block of rooms, at a special discount rate, at the Phoenix Inn North Motel.  This is located at the Market street exit off I-5 in Salem.  Room rates will be $77+ tax.  To get this rate you must call 1-888-239-9593 and tell them you are with the Oregon Fire Mechanics School.  The reservation deadline to receive this rate is February 28, 2012.  A continental breakfast is included.  Students are welcome to visit the Hospitality Room at the Phoenix Inn North, room 101. This room is open every evening after class so that you can meet with other technicians and instructors.
VENDOR SHOW: This year will be on Thursday, the 8th, starting at 12:00 p.m. at the school indoor arena.  We invite you to come and see what's new and meet with your equipment dealers. The Vendor show is Free and open to anyone to attend.  Food & drinks will be provided, along with door prizes throughout the show.
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING & BANQUET: will be held on Thursday evening starting at 6:00 pm. in the Phoenix Room, at the Phoenix Inn North Motel.  Dinner is again being catered by Buster's Barbecue.  Students and guests are welcome to attend. The cost will be $20.00 per person.  Due to requirements by the caterer, there will be a limited number of banquet tickets available at the door, so please order you dinner tickets early.  Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.
EVT TESTING: There will be Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification testing on Friday and Saturday Mornings at 8:00. Students wishing to to take the EVT exams must be pre-registered with the EVT Certification Commission. Students may now log on to www.evtcc.org to download registration forms, reference material lists, and learning objectives. Our EVTCC Special Test Site # OR30912. Students need to be registered with EVTCC by February 17th, 2012. 
Registration will be handled on a first come, first served basis.

THIS YEAR WE ARE AGAIN USING ONLINE REGISTRATION.  WE ARE USING AN ONLINE STORE FORMAT THAT ALLOWS YOU TO REGISTER AND PAY WITH CREDIT CARD AT REGISTRATION.
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER FOR A CLASS THAT IS FULL.  THEREFORE, THE CLASSES YOU REGISTER FOR, ARE WHAT YOU WILL BE ENROLLED IN.  THIS ALSO MEANS THAT YOU WILL NOT GET A CONFIRMATION LETTER OF YOUR CLASSES.

AFTER PUTTING ITEMS IN YOUR CART, CHECK OUT WILL BE THROUGH PAYPAL TO OFAEMA.  PayPal is a secured website company that we use to handle the Visa and Mastercard payments for us.
